Terms of Use

Information ≠ Legal Advice. RECEIPTS provides public legal information, research organization, plain-language explanations, and links to official sources. It is not a law firm, does not represent you, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

1. Use the service lawfully

You may use RECEIPTS for lawful informational and research purposes. Do not use it to impersonate another person, attack or interfere with the service, abuse payment or account systems, submit malicious code, violate another person's privacy, or submit material you do not have the right to use.

2. No evasion assistance

RECEIPTS may explain legal duties, rights, penalties, official procedures, lawful exemptions, and lawful ways to challenge government action. It is not intended to provide tactics for evading enforcement, hiding conduct, evidence, assets, or identity, falsifying records, obstructing proceedings, or bypassing legal requirements. Such requests may be reframed toward lawful compliance and official procedures.

3. Accuracy, dates, and official sources

Laws, rules, cases, agency guidance, local ordinances, and court procedures change. RECEIPTS is designed to show uncertainty and official sources, but no website can guarantee that every result is complete, current, or controlling for a specific situation. Verify important matters against the cited authoritative source and obtain qualified professional help when appropriate.

4. No outcome guarantee

RECEIPTS does not guarantee a legal conclusion, filing outcome, court result, employment result, benefits decision, criminal or civil outcome, deadline calculation, or any other result.

5. Emergencies and deadlines

RECEIPTS is not an emergency service, court filing system, law-enforcement service, or substitute for a qualified attorney. Do not rely on the site as the only source for a deadline, required filing, hearing date, emergency, arrest, custody/safety issue, or other time-sensitive legal matter.

6. Accounts and age

Accounts are optional for public research. The account feature is not for children under 13. Users under 18 should use payment or account features only with a parent or guardian's permission where required. You are responsible for access to your email account and devices.

7. Privacy

Use of account, backup, payment, security, and AI features is also governed by the Privacy Policy. Do not submit unnecessary sensitive identifiers or confidential documents.

8. Payments and recurring subscriptions

The $5 Support RECEIPTS checkout is an optional one-time support payment. Premium subscriptions are separate recurring products. Before a public premium checkout can begin, RECEIPTS is designed to show the plan price, monthly billing frequency, included search allowance, recurring nature of the charge, and links to the cancellation and refund/support terms. The user must intentionally continue into Stripe checkout; simply creating an account or using free tools does not create a subscription.

Until public premium launch is deliberately enabled, public subscription checkout remains locked. Private owner/testing access may display test-plan states without creating a paid public subscription. Neither a support payment nor a premium subscription purchases legal advice, representation, priority treatment, or a guaranteed result. The Refund & Support Policy applies.

9. User-provided text and copyright

You are responsible for text, notes, excerpts, and other material you submit. Submit only material you created, are authorized to use, is in the public domain, or that you reasonably believe you may lawfully use for the requested purpose. Do not use RECEIPTS to reproduce paywalled articles, books, proprietary legal forms, or other copyrighted works in full.

10. RECEIPTS intellectual property

RECEIPTS does not claim ownership of U.S. government works, third-party trademarks, third-party source material, or material that is public domain or otherwise not owned by RECEIPTS. Original RECEIPTS branding, original explanatory text, site design, and code may be protected by applicable intellectual-property law. See the Copyright & Takedown Policy.

11. External sources

External government, court, agency, and third-party links are provided for research convenience. A link does not mean RECEIPTS owns, controls, endorses, or guarantees that external site. External sites apply their own terms, privacy policies, accessibility practices, and copyright rules.

12. Availability and changes

Features can be corrected, paused, limited, replaced, or removed. Live AI research operates only when the paid-access gate, provider billing, account controls, security checks, and spending limits are configured and enabled.

13. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RECEIPTS is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, or suitable for a particular legal matter. This does not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RECEIPTS is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing here excludes liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

15. Copyright, privacy, and accessibility concerns

Use the Privacy / Legal Request page for a privacy request, copyright concern, or accessibility issue. Payment problems can also be handled through the Stripe receipt/support channel described on the contact page.

16. Entire terms and severability

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Refund & Support Policy, and any checkout terms shown before payment form the current public terms for RECEIPTS. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions are intended to remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
